Celebrating my Grandparents!

This month, my grandparents celebrated 60 YEARS of marriage!  And my Grandmother celebrated her 80th birthday!!  Much fun was had by all.

Aunt Pam hosted the celebration at her house in West VA.  I am not quite sure how we all did it, but the party managed to be kept a surprise from the guests of honor!  Grandma and Grandpap got to have all of their own kids there, plus four grandkids and two great-grandkids. 

We had quite a delectable spread, but that isn't unusual for this side of the family.  Pam marinated chicken in some islandy tasting sauce, we had meat balls, baked beans, cheese/crackers, potato salad, spinach dip, of course cake!  For me, and best of all, Aunt Pam made her famous taco salad.  I could probably eat three bowls of that, easily. 

Uncle Mike spent some time creating a photo slideshow that ran the whole time we were there, so I'm pretty sure everyone got to see all of the fun photos from the past and present.  I was happy to see one photo in particular that had Grandpap escorting both Grandma AND Grandma Nusbaum down the aisle during Eric's and my wedding.  SO SWEET!

Although the day was H-O-T HOT! we spent some time outdoors just talking and catching up.  The little kids ran rampant around the house; it was nice to see them all getting along.

Grandma and Grandpap opened gifts, both birthday and anniversary, and received a lot of nice things.  But the item that will always remain etched in my memory is a beautiful needlepoint that my aunt Penny did -- a family tree upon which all of our family's pictures were (literally) framed.  They also were held in place by these lovely little leaflets, both green and gold.  Oh, it was just so pretty!
