Cousin Birthdays!

My little nieces were born a week apart from each other.  Well, I suppose it's more correct to say one week shy of two years apart?  Anyway, when you're this young, birthday parties are all the rage, so this year we got to celebrate a 1st birthday party and a 3rd birthday party back to back!

For my littlest niece's birthday party (I'll call her Little A), we had an intimate family birthday luncheon on 6/5 (she was actually born on the fifth).  I don't think there is anything more fun at a first birthday party than watching the little one smear cake from ear to ear!

Of course there were gifts galore, but little A's big sister (let's call her Big Sis A) and cousin Cassy seemed to be more interested in them than she was.

After the gifts we had the cake, and mom and dad took a moment to get in a great picture with their big 1 year old!

Here comes the Cake!

Afterwards, it was just fun and games the rest of the afternoon.

So many presents!

Ciao, bella!

She *loved* this card!

The following weekend was Big Sis A's birthday party at JW Tumbles in Ashburn, VA.  Um . . . what an excellent idea!  I gotta admit, when I first entered the place I had my doubts.  It looked like all there was to it were some old gym mats (colorful though they may be) and a few jungle gym sets.  Nothing too terribly appealing -- but then the party actually got started.  Oh, boy, did it ever get started.

There were . . .

Parachutes!

Rollercoasters!

Swings!

Trains!

Gymnastics Equipment!

Even a zip line!!

The workers at JW Tumbles were fantastic at keeping the kid's attention for as short as their little spans allow.  As soon as it seemed the kids were losing interest, something bigger and better than before would be set up, and the kids would get overly excited once again!

After all was said and done, there was cake and other refreshments (veggies, cheese, fruits, etc).  We sang happy birthday and Big Sis A got to blow out the number 3 candle on her Tangled birthday cake!

The party time was set up for just an hour and a half, which was perfect.  I think by that time the kids (especially the younger ones that didn't get naps) were getting sleepy, and the excitement was beginning to wear down.  But the party wasn't over until the princess bids it so . . .

The immediate family packed up everything and went over to J & A's house to watch Big Sis A open her gifts.

Go on . . . make my day . . . I dare you.
